The best-known normative test dust for filter tests and environmental simulations is the Arizona test dust A2 fine, which is described in ISO 12103-1 with regard to its composition and particle size distribution. It is used for tests according to ISO 5011, IEC 62885 (DIN EN 60312), 32-SAMSS-008 (ARAMCO) or the new ISO 16890-3. KG has developed an alternative test dust, the so-called DMT test dust A2 fine quartz-free, which consists mainly of calcium magnesium carbonate and is not evaluated as a carcinogenic hazardous substance.
