Standard test dust
DMT Test Dust Type 8® | 7.2.2.3
General description
DMT Type 8® test dust is used as simulated house dust in accordance with IEC 62885 (2016) / IEC 60312 (2010) / DIN EN 60312 (2014) Chapter 7.2.2.3. This simulated household dust is used according to chapter 5.9 (IEC 62885-2) to determine the change in suction pressure of filled dust containers.
DMT GmbH & Co. also offers modifications of DMT Test Dust Type 8®. An example of this is the DMT test dust Type 8® < 100 µm. The individual components of DMT Type 8 test dust can also be ordered individually.
Composition
The DMT test dust type 8® consists of 70 % DMT mineral dust type 3, 20 % cellulose dust and 10 % cut cotton according to the above mentioned standards. In contrast to real house dust, DMT test dust type 8® is free of pollen, fungi, bacteria or any toxic substances that can generally be found in the household dust.
Transport and Storage
Parts may segregate during transport and storage. It is therefore recommended to homogenize DMT test dust type 8® before use, which can be achieved by mixing with a laboratory tumbler mixer. In addition, care must be taken to ensure that all samples taken have the same bulk density when the container is portioned.
Quality ensurance
Thanks to the high quality of the production and strict quality control of the raw materials and the finished product, the test dust provides the basis for the good reproducibility of the measurement results. The following quality controls are carried out:
Monitoring the particle size distribution of raw materials Monitoring of the cut cotton by determining the fiber size distribution Intermediate quality control during the production process Internal product quality control of the end product
